Like
military sentrys these vertical vessels are inspired by the dry
stacked stone walls that line roads - flint stone in particular has
wonderful faceted surfaces that are crisp, hard, masculine while
simultainously flowing sensual and organic.
Jamaica's national motto ‘out of many one people’ inspired a series of minature heads mounted on stone or wood. This series exhibited at the National Gallery represents cliches of our diverse ethnic population.
